sound/speakers problem

Postby Purple Lizard » Sun 10 Apr, 2005 5:21 pm

Hi

on my main PC I am using 2 emachines desktop speakers both of which are controlled via the Windows volume control. The problem with these speakers is that even with the highest volume selected I can only get about 25% of the total volume. Could it be a hardware conflict? I am using Windows 2000 with sp4 all the sound drivers are installed and the sound card is an onboard C-media audio device.

Any help would be apreciated.

thanks.

Hello Purple Lizard,
Have you tried opening your Volume Control

And adjust the sound level for Wave, MIDI, CD-audio etc?

This sounds more like a driver problem than a volume problem. I remember, way back when with my SoundBlaster Pro card (I had the original), when I couldn't find ISA drivers for it, I found a PCI driver for the Sound Blaster 16. It worked, but it was way too loud.

Have you had this driver a long time with no problems? If you just upgraded, try reloading the driver. Better yet, make sure you've got the right driver.

Hi

Antony,

I have tried using all the windows and other software bundled with the sound chip but to no avail. I dont think the problem is related to the software.

Don. The sound card is an onboard system on the Abit SG-71 motherboard. I have looked on the drivers CD that came with the motherboard. Later today Im going to go and buy another set of speakers and see if that clears up the problems.

Thanks for your input.
