Speeding up Reload Times?

Postby bill6289 » Sun 26 Oct, 2003 3:03 pm

Hi
I use Communicator 4.5. Previously I used an older version. With a stop watch I have been measuring reload times of different browsers.
I need the speed especially for bidding on Ebay. I need to know exactly when 1 minute is left so I can start my timer and bid at the last few seconds. So far my older version of Communicator was the fastest at about 3 seconds. Netscape 6 was horribly slow, about 20 seconds. Communicator 4.5 takes about 5 seconds. What do I have to do to speed the new browsers up?
I use dial-up at 56K.
Thanks

For some browsers, the "reload" does not really reload. Some just re-display (aka re-render) the webpage. Some browser re-retrieve the html (exculde the image). Some request everything from the server again.
However, sometime the server is busy/slow.

Ususally for a good result reloading, Shift + Reload is the way to make sure all page reloaded porperly.

I suggestion for your situation, turn off images for that time, and reload the page.
