static vs dynamic ip address SPEED

Postby miyagawafan » Fri 05 Dec, 2003 4:50 pm

i hope i can post a computer question here.....

i just bought a dlink 624 and
i am also now TOTALLY STEALTHED.

question.....from a security point of view,,,for an indivisual like me, how important is it to have a dynamic address over a static address IF THEY'RE BOTH STEALTHED?

the reason i ask is that the latest firmware info tells me that changing from a dynamic to a static ip address will give me more internet speed.

so then my final question is,,,,,,is it worth the difference to give up a bit of security(switching from dynamic to static) for the sake of faster internet speed? i have already noticed about a 30% faster access with the dlink 624, from what used to be abot 170's-180's kilobytes per second to about 230's/sec.
i have yet to decide if i want to change from dynamic to static

i have roadrunner

Over the internet, I don't think you can be "totally stealth." The most you can do is behind a proxy or even connect from one proxy to another proxy. When FBI or CIA request proxy or your network provider for their connection logs, your activity will be exposed.

Use a static IP address will make life easier for a number of applications in your computer as well.
