Strange Occurence on Loading Firefox

Postby James » Fri 30 Mar, 2012 9:43 pm

When I click on the FF icon to enable it, there is a flash showing the desktop with transparent diagonal lines running across before FF loads. I'm using FF 11. When I load any other browser (IE9, Google Chrome, Opera) I do not get this flash but go directly to the start page. Any ideas how to get rid of this nuisance? It seemed to come about when I updated to FF 11.

I also have 64-bit Windows 7, but did not see this after upgrading to 'fox 11. Is it possible to post a screenshot, or does it occur too quickly for a screenshot to be possible?

It's a flash, Edward. I suppose I'm left with uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that will alleviate the situation. It's not been problematic but it is bothersome.

It might also be video-related. Have you updated the video drivers?

I once had an issue with Thunderbird's windows, jittery under Vista when minimized or maximized. When I located an updated video driver (nVIDIA), it fixed that problem.

That's the easiest way, if it works. Typically, such process works in 1-2% of any issue. There is an outside chance that a new profile would work, and since it affects only Firefox, I have some problem placing it in the driver's camp. Are you using Seamonkey? That could be the tiebreaker.

Hi Fulvio:

No, I don't use SeaMonkey anymore. I was able to correct the problem by completely uninstalling FF, including my profile, and then re-installing it. Given that I use Lastpass, it wasn't as painful as I thought and I was up and running with the exact same set-up within twenty minutes. Thanks.
