Sun Java 2 1.4.2 released

Postby Edward » Sat 28 Jun, 2003 7:44 am

Sun has released Java 2 Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4.2. This one has over 2,000 bug fixes (according to their web page).

Download web site

The beta of 1.4.2 (Windows release) crashed Opera when certain sites with Java applets were loaded, the BBC News main page being one of them.

After installing 1.4.2 final, the BBC News pape does NOT crash Opera, and the applet at the top of their page loads in perfectly.

I'm removing the "Sticky" status from this thread, since Sun Java v1.4.2 has been
out for just over a year now, and a beta release of v1.5.0 is currently available.

(Wouldn't this thread be better off in the "General Computing and Tech" forum?)

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!
