Sydney is in Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition

Postby Antony » Wed 20 Aug, 2008 8:28 am

An exciting news for Sydney (and many other cities). Sydney is now officially in the new Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition. (Thanks Hasbro)

Sydney's spot is on red colour (the location after Free Parking), sharing the red group with New York and London.

List of cities in the new Monopoly: Here and Now The World Edition:
Gdynia, Taipei,
Tokyo, Barcelona, Athens,
Istanbul, Kyiv, Toronto,
Rome, Shanghai, Vancouver,
Sydney, New York, London,
Beijing, Hong Kong, Jerusalem,
Paris, Belgrade, Cape Town,
Riga, Montreal.

Sydney costs $2.2M or £2.2M on Monopoly.

Back in 2006, I bought the [sdt=11772]Monopoly Here & Now (Electronic) Edition[/sdt].

Congrats to Sidney, truly a world city.

The next step would be to have a Monopoly board game with the city of Sidney as the subject, as Atlantic City is the subject of the original game.

Does Australia have its won version of "Idol" as in "American Idol", which was actually British in origin; or "Queer eye for the Straight Guy", a cable TV program which has British version?

Yes, we have Australian Idol, and the new season will start this Sunday on Channel Ten. (I am not a big fan of Idol.)

Big Brothers has just finished before Olympics, and Channel Ten will not renew for another season.

There was a Australian version Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, it did not do well, and was cut short if I remember correctly.

So-

Monopoly with the Sidney streets and utilities, etc., should be a blast. Poor choice of words these days. It shold be a lot of fun and a big seller.

There's an Australian version of Monopoly (not Here & Now) with Australian places names. To best of my knowledge, the standard version (UK names but using $ instead of £, same value) is the most popular one.

Not sure if I will buy the new Monopoly Here & Now The World Edition. I might try to get the upcoming Monopoly for Wii or PS3 first.

Monopoly was born in Salem, Massachusetts. It should have a permanent place on the Monopoly board. :)

I'm sad to see that while cities I've never even heard of like Gdynia and Kyiv are in the game, Lisbon is not :(

Well, I still haven't bought the new Here & Now World Edition of Monopoly, instead I bought the just released Monopoly (for Wii)

Image

It has the classic board and the new World Edition board.
(blog entry)

The new Monopoly is available for Wii, PS3, PS2, and Xbox 360.
