teachers can't even raise voice

Postby Antony » Tue 13 Sep, 2011 2:13 pm

Following the steps of the advanced United States of America on over protecting the kids, teachers in Australia had long gone the corporal punishment. Here's the new step to allow evil kids to behave rudely, even in the classroom: smart teachers will no longer allowed to raise the voice to students because they could be investigated.

So in a class with screaming kids, the teacher can't touch the students, can't raise the voice... today's kids are really lucky.

In truth, Antony, the kids really "aren't lucky" because of this. Reducing the authority of teachers in this way (and I suppose one would have to define "raising one's voice" in order to truly understand this new regulation) simply creates an atmosphere that is less conducive to learning, more threatening to the individual students who will now be more subject to the authority of classroom bullies than teachers and overall lead to a poorer education with all that this entails. Frankly, I feel sorry both for the students and the teachers. It's a no-win situation.

PS: I'm so glad my days of teaching are over.

I spoke to some teachers. Many of them told me that today's kids (students) have more rights than teachers.
