I would just like to thank the developers of Opera for not being victim to the latest security problems that have hurt IE and gecko based browsers , (meaning spoofing).

This isn't an official Opera support message area, but if any Opera folks see this, I'm sure they will appreciate it. I use Opera myself along with Netscape and Mozilla.

Personally, I would not put Gecko-based browsers (Netscape and Mozilla) on the same level as IE. It's open-source now, and reported bugs found to be valid, are addressed and are fixed rather quickly, unlike IE.

IE is in a world of its own... which at least one other SillyDog Moderator would be in full agreement with. :D

I think I could agree with DJGM

Moz was only partly effected by the bug, and it has been corrected. Maybe Microsoft will give us a patch in that big truckload of patches we will need to download this month.

So...with Windows 98, I won't have to worry about wasting time downloading all that. :D

Hi,
It is not likely that you will see a patch for windows 98 and now not even windows ME.
Hotfix support is over for those oses.
B.T.W. All Suppoort is ending soon for windows 98 and 98se.

In future, please start a new thread if you want to start a new topic. Can someone split this, please?

Netscape Communications released the source code of their browser in 1998, which is how the Mozilla Project started. Netscape 6.0 and later were all based on Mozilla builds (usually around an incrimental version behind current Mozilla build).
