old guy new to computers.
I have learned that when things don't work, it is not always my fault. That there are programming glitches that are beyond my control. Thanks to sites like this one, I gain greater confidence.. and stay in control. I am also getting a better idea of the type of PC , OS, etc. that is more suited for my personal use, and not a marketing idea of what I want. My first independant and informed choice was to browse with NS, do all my email w/ same. I had a problem just 2 days ago, and found the solution in your archives. Thanks to the regular contributers and their experiences that save me aggravation.

How did you decide on the name Silly Dog for this site?

BTW, the site itself is fantastic. It was nice to look at the thumbnail images of the older Netscape versions (0.x and 1.x). :)

Silly Dog 701 name

I don't remember exactly, how I got this name.
Silly Dog 701 was originally a personal homepage and launched in early 1997. (See changelog)
The name "Silly Dog 701" does not have any particular origins at all. I told myself, I need to have a name for the website (other than Antony's Homepage), and I want it simple and easy to remember. For some reason, "Silly Dog" sounds nice to me. And for the number part, adding some number at end would make it feel a bit "geeky". If you are going to ask me why "701", 701 matches Silly Dog if you prounce it as seven-o-one, also 701 is a prime number. (If you are a math guy or you love numbers, you will know what is so special about primes.)
Now, I am slowing converting from "Silly Dog 701" to "SillyDog701".
