when you use the "Upgrade" feature for Windows Vista to 7.

Things break, programs freak out, your registry says a few choice words to you.

In other words, don't do it. So. Many. Headaches.

I've always had the philosophy that doing an in-place upgrade from one version of an OS to another never is a good idea. There are just too many things that can go wrong. Backing up all of your data and program settings, doing a clean install, and then re-importing everything is a much cleaner solution.

I usually follow that way of installation. However, I was felling quite lazy. I managed to get everything worked out I believe, for now anyway.
