If anyone uses yahoo chat dont use yahoo messenger.
you need a third party client.

http://www.zakie.fsnet.co.uk/messy/
these programs are boot resistant.
yahoo messenger is subject to boot exploits

What is "boot exploit"?

certain people in yahoo have boot programs that send mass data to your computer. The computer cant handle that amount of packets sent so your computer freezes or your knocked out of chat. Buffer overflows.
its real complicated.

a firewall does not stop them so certain people have created these chat clients.
Since you are logged in to the yahoo server the boot exploits go through the yahoo server. They can hit the voice server or the text server.
