As well as Firefox 1.5.0.8 security fixes are described at Mozilla Foundation Security Advisories (MFSA's) MFSA2006-65..67 they include information about flaws fixed in new Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 too.

Official links are the following:
http://www.mozilla.org/security/announc ... 06-65.html
http://www.mozilla.org/security/announc ... 06-66.html
http://www.mozilla.org/security/announc ... 06-67.html

Security company Secunia rated these vulnerabilities as Moderately Critical, i.e. 3/5 using their severity level. They didn't get Highly Critical rating like Firefox, because JavaScript is turned off in Thunderbird by default.

Help Configuring Thunderbird 1.5.0.8

Postby Timtzyou » Thu 09 Nov, 2006 1:46 pm

Hi, I haven't posted for a while. I've just migrated all my old e-mail from netscape 7.2 to Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 via Mozbackup 1.4.5 on my work computer. This worked very well, although when choosing compose, a toolbar below the subject window containing icons for size of text, underlining text and a few other attributes are absent. I've noticed these features in Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 on my home computer I'd like these features but don't know how to get them. Have checked various drop down menus etc. and can't seem to find a reference for these features to either restore them or turn them on. Can someone help me about how to do this? Thanks. Tim Osachuk

Tim,

Click on Tools | Account Settings | Composition & Addressing
Enable: Compose messages in HTML format

Now you will have all your choices back for composition of the message.

Keep TB open in the background when you're on FF. In TB go to Tools/Options/General. Near the bottom of that menu screen where it says: When New Mail Arrives, place a check in Show an Alert and Play a Sound.

Good luck.

I have noticed my page setup last night when I was receiving emails the attatchments were showing up in the right hand corner attatchments was listed opposite sender and subject.
Tonight when the mail comes in the attatchments are listed down the bottom of the page just above work offline button. I would prefer them too be back up the top like the old netscape
I have changed no settings yet its changed the way it displays can somone please tell me how too get it back
This is the only problem I have now all the others I have got sorted
I cant seem too find anywhere in Help how too get it back too the way it installed last night

"Just still wanting too know if i have the attatchments in Thunderbirld load in right hand pane like Netscape not at bottom page"
- Do you mean the list of attachments? In Netscape 7 it is, as you've earlier noted, adjacent to the email header information. In Thunderbird I've only seen it at the bottom of the page.
- Do you have checked the option [ View > Display Attachments Inline ]? For both Netscape and Thunderbird this causes the listed attachment/s to be shown inline along with the email. If this option is not checked then one must double-click the attachment name (wherever it is listed) in order to open it.

Earlier you said, "the attatchments are listed down the bottom of the page just above work offline button". The bottom is the only attachment list location I've seen in Thunderbird. But I don't have a 'work offline button' at the bottom in Thunderbird, only in Netscape. I'm using the bare bones Thunderbird - no extentions.

Seems bottom must be the way it is then was just used to the right hand pane in Netscape. I actually prefered them up the top rather than the bottom guess I have too get used too change

When fwding emails I have the option too add as to or CC is there an option where I can just do them all as BCC. When I put the person I am sending too it auto goes too CC or to
it does not stay on BCC and at the bottom of the contact list there is only to or CC
I cant find anything in help about BCC
This is in fwding or replying i know I can do BCC manually but when u r doing bulk each one reverts back too TO or CC

I guess what I am asking is like in Netscape 7.2 once u hit BCC it would stay on that too all you were sending
In Thunderbird I cant see an option at the bottom of the contacts list too do BCC
When addressing the email I seem too have too change each contact too BCC
is there an option I have missed to do this as in Navigator
