Since there was an update for Seamonkey, related to mail, I found that there was one for Thunderbird. In this case the partial update worked.
Oh, yea, there is, also an update for Firefox. In neither case, I was not informed that there was one, and after successful update, no info about it came up.
I prefer to update when I am ready, but Mozilla has gone to the dogs, about these updates.

You can disable updates. Look in about:config for app and disable app.update.auto and app.update.enabled. I also copied the app.update.silent: false setting to my user.js file to prevent it from being set to true in the future.

Disabling updates was not my point. I don't get any automatic updates, but I used to get notices if an update was available, and did not get any, this time.
