Trouble loading Netscape Communicator on Mac

Postby salee » Sun 22 Dec, 2002 10:38 pm

When I click on Netscape Communicator 4.04 on my Mac OS8, it loads continuously...never getting to the end of the load. Parts of the Home Page will appear...then disappear...continuously until I get a message that says 'transfer interrupted' and the browser just crashes and disappear altogether. My ISP tried to help to no avail and suggest I get an updated version (4.07). Will this solve my problem and where can I get an update by mail? I definitely cannot download it without a working browser.

Netscape 4.0x had severe bugs in it. Netscape 4.8 is much more stable. Upgrading to 4.8 should solve your problems.

I sent a much longer message to the e-mail address which comes up with your name. If you have OS 8, you should, probably, be able to use NS 4.8, but my suggestion was to empty the Cache folder, even delete it, if not done for long time, but otherwise create a new profile.

hello,

Witch MacOs 8 you have? If you us MacOs 8.5 or higher take Netscape 4.8 & 7.01 for you to us the internet and for you email.

Have you clear diskcache...Edith/Preferences/Advanced/Cache

How many mb you give it, 30 to 35 mb is the best.

Have you a lower os than MacOs 8.5 do a update to MacOs 8.5, free dowload on the apple site....http://www.apple.com
It is better to us Netscape browsers.

For your browser, do a update her on this site to 4.8, it is more faster and saver than the one you now us.
Or try Netscape 7.01, the best there is this moment for iMac I think.
More faster and better than Internet explorer 5.16.

I us Netscape 4.8, 7.01 and Mozilla 1.2.1
