Well this update states that the risk to Australia is fairly small. I'm on the western side of the country to there wasn't ever much of a risk of anything really happening here.
I've read about all the damage in Chile and that the tsunami has also hit New Zealand, so my condolences go to anyone effected in those countries.

Based on tonight's news. Many beach goers ignored the warning. (Then the lifesavers ordered people off the beach.) Precaution or overreaction, your pick.
