Is it possible to turn on file extensions for the cache in Netscape 7?

From what I can tell, Netscape 7, unlike Netscape 4.x, does not put file extensions on its cache files. I would guess that Netscape 7 would see no reason to have the function "turned on." I can understand your desire to look into those files since it can be handy to save things found only in the cache.

If extensions were put on cache files, then "turning on" the ability to see them would be a function of the operating system.

I am using IrfanView as Viewer, and every Cache file has a smaller IV icon, which suggests that these are or may be .gif files. When attempting to open with IrfanView, I get a warning that "these are .gif files with an incorrect extension). And, I am asked if I want to open with IV. Every small file can be converted to an average .gif, while others are "invisible". Won't help you but this is what I see.
