Unable to forward pictures in email using NS 7.2

Postby audreyb » Tue 02 Nov, 2004 9:41 pm

At times I will receive an email message that contains beautiful pictures. When I try to forward the message to someone else, only the printed material will go, not the pictures. How can I forward the entire message?

It depends on the way that the message has been sent, and, knowing that the vast majority of people use Microsoft product, this is explainable. Even, within Microsoft-based products, one gets only a red X. You can check by selecting: View|Headers|All (make sure that you revert back to Normal, when done), and see what is in the last line X-MIME-Ole.
It has worked for me if I use the Reply function, changing the To: adddress. Otherwise, if the image is downloadable, i.e. right click|save, it can be sent as an attachment from your hard drive (make sure that your AntiVirus software is updated).

Unable to forward pictures in email

Postby audreyb » Wed 03 Nov, 2004 7:49 pm

I checked the headers. The only line with MIME in it was
MIME-Version 1.0

The last line was X-NAS-Valildation {8D32DF8B-D3B8-4783-A0C5-FE37E2FC8659}

I tried using reply, it didn't work.
When I saved the picture and sent it as an attachment the picture went but it was separate. The emails I am talking about had words, picture, words, picture etc.

It may be something else, because I misunderstood your question. What I said applies if you cannot receive images, not about sending.
I checked my Preferences (Edit|Preferences) and I saw two items in mail and news to watch for: Compositions and send format.
If you send in plain text, you will not see any pictures, and the Compositions line tells you to select Inline and/or as an attachment.
I prefer Inline because it will also send as an attachment. If there is a single picture, it is good enough. So, watch out for the plain text. It will not allow you to send pictures, even though you may see them.
Preference settings are self-explanatory.

Unable to send pictures

Thanks again. I checked the composition..it was Inline. However the send format was set at "both plain text and HTML. I changed it to "send in HTML anyway" and I was then able to send the pictures. I was having the problem on my verizon account. My netscape account was already set to that.

I have always selected both ways, and never had a problem.
