I doubt it, because what would you do if you don't use Quick Launch?
I have set up my computer in an odd fashion, so everythingv is backward and in different location. I was referring to the box indicating the present open page, like: Post a reply...

On my machine . .

I was able to drag the link from the link in Netscape 4.8 to Firebird's "minimized" window on the task bar (not the quick launch). However, I could not just let the link go when Firebird maximized, but had to move the link to the URL address field.

One more thing - when I released the link in the address field, it pasted it onto the end of the address that was already there. To make this easy, you should start with a blank tab or window.

This is not the best way to do things, and really not all that much quicker than the standard "copy and paste" method - but it pretty cool.

Still wish somebody could figure out a way to seperate the browner from the messanger in 4.8.

Maybe for Christmas - 2004!

I should have said it before. No,I cannot open 4.8 mail directly in MozFB, as I said, but I can send mail by clicking on that icon. I did not use the way you did it. However, if you set to open only Messenger, you can click on the icon and get only Mail. I have two profiles, so the profile manager may come up.
I installed the External Application Button 0.6.3, from the Extention button, and when I want to use it go to Tools|Options|highlight E.A.B|Options|New Button and choose the application you want, i.e. Program Files|Netscape|Program|netscape.exe . A small N will appear in the upper right toolbar. If you have changed in your 4.8 Appearance|Messenger, and close Netscape, you should be all set.

Links are working . . .

I have been playing with the drag and drop thing from Netscape 4.8 to Firebird for a few days now.. It has been working pretty well. Not as well as if I could just click on a link and have it open site in the default browser, but it works better than the copy & paste option.

You can do it any way want. I tested my way, and it works fine.
