Video streaming not working

Postby Anonymosity » Sun 12 Sep, 2010 6:45 pm

If I try to get the video stream from this site with either Safari or Firefox, I get no stream. Quicktime launches a window and keeps pausing without playing the video.

I updated the Perian codec and confirmed that I have the latest version of Flip4Mac. I also got a new version of Real Player, since the source code seemed to indicate that RTSP protocol is used. I tried a direct link to the RTSP address. That does not work with Real Player. VLC gives audio but not video. Is there any way to get the video stream on that site?

The page says "Missing Plug-in" for me.

I found a workaround. That site uses an rtsp:// address to stream the video. I found that if I set Firefox to use VLC to handle the rtsp protocol and bookmarked the rtsp address, I could get the stream to start with VLC when I clicked the bookmark for rtsp. I get audio with no problem, but it takes some fiddling around with stopping and restarting it to get the video window. It is very fiddly to get working, but I can usually manage to do it with a few tries. There was no way I could figure out how to get Safari to access that stream.
