Thanks for the feedback, Richard. I'll need to check a few things. As you can see, right now I'm using Chrome and am enjoying how snappy it is. But FF is like a comfortable old shoe (yes, even the new version) and I don't want to give it up; at least not yet.

Sure, for the first time ever I've seen a browser use over 1GB of ram. You can see in the screenshot I posted earlier in the thread. In the end, it's hardly a major problem. Ram is dirt cheap anyway. You can get 8GB of DDR3 ram here for around ~$100 AUD.

It could be a problem with someone with an old machine, like me. I have 512 MB RAM, which good enough for me. It may be a case of habit, or what, but I have never seen any browser sucking up more than 140 MB.
I don't know if one should combine firefox.exe with plugin-container.exe. My 3.6.16, would be using a total of 110 MB. I, rarely, keep more than three tabs open, at a time, nor use a single browser over 30 min.
