Netscape Mail

I still use NS 7.2 mailbox When I receive mail that includes graphics and I try to forward I get a message "Sending of message failed. See if you have access to file" What does that mean and how do I remedy this?

I'm surprised that the Netscape Mail service is still running. Most of the accounts were converted over to AIM Mail a few years back and AIM Mail was recently merged into AOL Mail. A Netscape Mail account I had way back when, was converted over without warning and I lost the e-mail address for it at the time.

The "sending of message failed" message might indicate a problem with the mail server itself and not your software. Does that only occur with HTML e-mails (usually those would have links or graphics), or with all e-mails?

I happens mainly with HTML posts. I stick with it because I am used to it and I don't want to change my e-mail address. But it is pain.

It is not clear to me what is meant by Netscape Mail. Is from a netscape.net account, which as Edward said, should not be working, as it used to be, as the server does not exist, as such, any more. Or is the Mail portion of Netscape 7.2 , set up with any old(hopefully, of an existing server) account.
I changed my "netscape" mail (@netscape.net) years ago, first to aim.com, which, in turn is @aol.com.

I would suggest you install SeaMonkey, it should migrate the mails from Netscape Mail (I presume the email software as part of Netscape suite).

SeaMonkey should provide a very similar working environment to Netscape (browser and mail).

Otherwise, you can consider Mozilla Thunderbird which is more actively maintained.

As we have not, yet, established what is meant by Netscape Mail, I would like to take another stab, assuming that Netscape Mail means the Mail portion of Netscape. I see this in the original post:

with my emphasis on the forward. It may have nothing to do with the fact that it is Netscape, but rather than the fact that there are are graphics. I would try, as a tie breaker to forward with Outlook Express, or any other mail program.
It is possible that the graphics, inline or attachment, cannot be forwarded.

Remember that Firefox is a browser only. But it should work fine with gmail. Seamonkey is like an updated Netscape. Any account that you can set up in Netscape should work in Seamonkey, the mail part.
If it does not work it may be due to the fact that the server will not respond. We, still, don't know what kind of mail account you were using, i.e. @whatever.net or com.

In theory, it should work, but it may depend on the images. That's way, I always double check with Outlook Express (Or Windows Live). My provider supports Thunderbird, but even then, when I had a mail problem, they suggested that I check with Outlook Express. If there is, still, a problem, it may be time to change the mail program.

I must say, what a muddle of possibilities.

Antony is right: go get the SeaMonkey Suite, if you like Netscape, you will like SeaMonkey.

Gmail and Gecko mail programs like Thunderbird and the mail in SeaMonkey have zero in common. Gmail is web mail. I don't even know if it refreshes like TBird, Outlook, etc, just automatically bringing in your mail.

Short of SeaMonkey, use TBird, in conjunction with the separate browser Firefox.

I used my old netscape.net e-mail address to login to AOL Mail yesterday and to my surprise, it worked, but the only e-mail addresses in the pull-down menu were [username]@aol.com and [username]@aim.com.

Funny that the address works for the login, but if I try to send to @netscape.net, it bounces with 'Recipient address rejected: netscape.net'.
