Ha. I've tried complaining and you're just shouted down. I've pretty much given up on trying to reason with folks at Mozilla... especially the Asa Dotzler types.

Why the Mozilla developers think they have to copy other browsers is beyond me. And why do they think that dumbing down the interface is a good idea? I think they should bring out a Firefox For Dummies for people who like dumbed-down interfaces, and leave regular Firefox with all the features and accesses alone so that people who understand how to use a browser can use a good browser.

Hi, pals. Not knowing why, Google Tradutor cannot play voice after I upgraded my Firefox from 3.6.18 to Firefox 4.0.1. Now, I'd upgraded my Firefox to 5.0. Google Tradutor still cannot play voice. Besides Firefox 4.0.1 and 5.0, my SeaMonkey 2.1 cannot, either. Why? Thanks.

I never heard of a "Google Tradutor", but it is, likely an addon, i.e. something which works with a program, but is not part of it. Addons are not, automatically, compatible with a new version. There is a lot of screaming and yelling about this fact. But there is nothing that one can do, wring your hands and wait for an update of the addon, which may or may not happen. Or do an end around, thanks to Nightly Tester Tools.
By the way, although I started this thread, I was only asking if anyone had any idea what was going on. I was not looking for motives, etc. This thread has become ridiculous.

Is Google Tradutor the http://translate.google.com.br/ you referred to?

When testing with Firefox 4.0.1 (under Windows 7), Firefox says that I need a plug-in. Bear in mind that I don't have Flash installed on Windows 7 yet.

Yes, that's it. Sorry and thank you. I tested my Firefox versions, and the results are below.

Firefox 3.6.18 (installed) on the Microsoft Windows XP platform. Google Translate is able to play voice.
Firefox 5.0 (portable) on the Microsoft Windows XP platform. Google Translate is able to play voice.
Firefox 3.6.18 (installed) on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform. Google Translate is able to play voice.
Firefox 5.0 (installed) on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform. Google Translate is NOT able to play voice.
Firefox 5.0 (portable) on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform. Google Translate is NOT able to play voice.

All of these Firefox versions are installed Shockwave Flash 10.3.x.x. I can watch video on Youtube.

Still using Firefox 4.0.1 under Windows 7 Professional (under Parallels Desktop for Mac), now with Adobe Flash installed. I can play the audio now.
