For anyone's benefit, I would like to post the following problem and solution:

I recently experienced "severe video stalling" where streaming video would play for 2 seconds and stop for 33 seconds, play for 2 seconds, stop for 33, etc., etc.... I tried everything I could think of: clearing all history, disabling all add-ons, etc. I ended up uninstalling FF, deleting every Mozilla folder, and re-installing. Video plays again--so far, so good.


("Freezing" to me, is when the whole system briefly will not respond. "Stalling" to me, is when only the video stops.)

For issues with streaming video, sometimes it could just be the fact that the server is not fast enough or your internet connection. Or the fact that video (itself) was not properly compressed.

My solutions were easier:
1) restart the browser; or
2) reboot the computer; or
3) forget about that video.

Your simpler solution was to a simpler problem.

I tried multiple sites, including nbc.com

My "etc." was meant to include the things you listed.

And I forgot the even simpler solution:
0) Try with another browser.

Yes...while I was trial-and-error-ing, I actually did look into some other browsers so that I would be ready if I could not get FF to work. My solution is still going okay, though. Maybe there was something corrupted in there.

I really like the options that FF has and would really prefer to keep it and do everything possible to do so. While I was looking for another browser, there were several things that I really could not find an equivalent for. Over all, I really don't have that many problems with FF, as my posts to here are usually once every 6 months or less and a lot of them are "how to" type posts, but it seems when I do have an issue, it is a very difficult, sometimes unsolvable issue, which eventually takes a last resort of a whole OS reinstall to fix it, which it has, and the same issues have not ever come back.....uh-oh, I shouldn't have said that, lol.
