Thunderbird does not load remote content

Postby Antony » Sat 18 Aug, 2012 12:12 am

I understand not loading remote content (images) is a protection. However, it is becoming annoying.

There are definitely certain emails I would like to have remote images loaded automatically. Somehow, I ended up clicking "Show Remote Content" button on each of those emails.

The link ("Always load remote content from ....") never works for me. Does anyone know how?

That link works for me, but it is a nuisance, since it applies, only, to the specific site.
I can, easily, do away with that protection in Seamonkey, should I want to, by unchecking the box in Preferences|Mail and Newsgroups|Message Displays|Block all images etc.,for all sites.

Thank you for the suggestion. Except I can't found the similar setting in Thumderbird 14.0.

That link works for me, but it is a nuisance, since it applies, only, to the specific site.

I said that the link in Thunderbird works for me, while you said:
The link ("Always load remote content from ....") never works for me.

In addition, I said that I can get around the problem in Seamonkey. I, never, suggested that this would apply to Thunderbird.
However... Take a lookat this article

There are a few people who sometimes send me remote images. Their entries in the Address Book are checked Allow remote images in HTML mail. (I have over 20 address books - names are grouped by some association: my relatives, wife's relatives, where we became associated, etc.)

To accommodate businesses that send me emails, I have an Address Books named zImagesOKMail. (The 'z'-prefix puts it at the bottom of the list of Books.) A new card is made when a 'friendly' business first sends me an email with an image.

Thanks Paul.

In OS X, Thunderbird uses two address books. One is Thunderbird's collection, and the other one is OS X's built-in version (which Apple encourages OS X applications to use the data from it so the users do not need to maintain two sets of address book). By turning off the built-in address book (in Thunderbird's setting), the "Always load remote content from ..." link seems to be working.
