Accented characters with GIMP?

Postby Anonymosity » Tue 01 Sep, 2009 1:14 am

Is there any way to type accented characters from GIMP? The character palette does not work with it. The special characters that you can type using the Option key with other keys do not work from GIMP either. Can one get special characters into captions by typing any kind of key codes? The only way I could see to get those letters into captions was by typing them into a text editor and then copying and pasting, which is a bit awkward.

I would guess that GIMP is not a standard Cocoa application for Mac OS X.

Anyway, to display accented character, you will need to choose the font that supports it.
If [sdt=12720]this guide[/sdt] does not work under GIMP, the only method I can think of now is what you have been doing... type it elsewhere and copy the character in.

GIMP runs under X11 rather than the normal Mac OS system. At least it recognizes text from normal Mac OS in the clipboard (but not images).
