Many of you know that my 24-inch iMac is reaching its 3-year AppleCare Protection Plan (warranty) soon...

After using the 24-inch screen for almost 3 years, I start to find that the 24-inch is not that big to be honest... 27-inch is tempting ;-)

That quad core i7 iMac with the 27" screen looks like a real beauty. 2560x1440 is a hell of a lot of space to work with, nice high quality LCD panel. :)

Apple has changed the display ratio from 16:10 to 16:9.

Previously, you can get 1920 x 1200 on Apple LED Cinema Display (24-inch), now, it's 1920 x 1080 (full HD resolution on TV) on 21.5-inch iMac (in LED-backlit).
You can still get 2560 x 1600 on Apple Cinema HD Display (30-inch), now, it's 2560 x 1440 on 27-inch iMac (in LED-backlit as well).

However, if you are worried about reflection, only the 30-inch Cinema HD Display (US$1799) is in anti-glare (matte), all the rest are in glossy for better colour depth.

On the notebook side, only 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro have the option to choose anti-glare screen.

It is also interesting to note that the Mini DisplayPort on 27-inch models can be used for both video input and output.

According to Geekbench website, iMac Core i7 2.8GHz scores more than twice the iMac Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz (E7600).

For 27-inch, iMac Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz is priced at US$1,699, and the iMac Core i7 (built-to-order option) would cost US$2,199. (iMac Core i5 costs US$1,999).
For just a few hundred dollars more, the performance is doubled, it seems like a very wise upgrade to me.

Well, the 27-inch iMac is very tempting since the warranty of my current 24-inch iMac has expired.

Alongside today's release of new [sdt=16458]MacBook Pros featuring Intel Core i5 and i7[/sdt], Apple also quietly dropped the prices for 4 GB RAM modules in its 27-inch iMac.

Upgrading from 2x2GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM to 2x4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM used to cost US$600 extra, it is now only US$400 extra. Upgrading to 16GB (4x4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM) used to cost US$1,400 extra, now only costs US$1,000.
