mac 10.02 can't send mail (mac mail)

Postby gvandusen » Fri 03 Oct, 2003 3:46 pm

I have been on the phone to my server for hours to no avail. When sending mail (mac mail system 10.02) it goes to the out box and remains there. I get a pop up error notice from my server saying I can't use port 25 (set automatically by the server). On another note people have notified me that when they send me mail it bounces back to them. My wife's computer uses an older Outlook program and seems to have no trouble sending or receiving to the same server.

After being on the phone with my server the mail will work fine for a few hours or days and then the problem begins again. I also have outlook 5.2 which comes up with another error message when sending.

Is this a modem, server, computer, phone line, ????? problem?

Firstly, did you set up your Apple Mail correctly. Can you receive mails?
Go to Mail | Preference, select Accounts tab, either Edit the current Account, and you will see a new window,
Make sure you have the correct setting, both incoming Mail server and outgoing mail server, usually in the form of (mail.yourISP.com and smtp.yourISP.com)
