Communicator startup crash with new NS

Postby alikia » Sun 13 Nov, 2005 4:21 am

This is a question from a luddite (sorry!) - i'm using Communicator 4.61 for mail (have done for a long time), Windows 98. Recently upgraded my browser to NS 8.0.4 (big leap!). Now on startup, Communicator crashes (with a stern rebuke "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down") when it tries to load Netscape into the empty window for reading mail messages.

How can I either fix the problem, or get it to start a different "home" url in that window? Thx

probably, just rename netscape.exe from NS8 to netscp.exe and it'll work.

Thx Pedro, your "solution" seemed so obvious and elegantly simple, but... it didn't work (to my surprise). Still same behaviour. HELP!
