Ouya, open-source Xbox 360 killer getting started

I know our many Microsoft die-hard supporters would be devastated to hear that a new gaming console may be the world's best selling and very well loved Microsoft Xbox 360 killer. This $99 Ouya console is open-source and has raised over $2 millions in 24 hours. The bottom line: Ouya is open-source, and will be easy for game developers.

It is also remain interesting to see the responses from those open-source supporters who are also strong pro-Microsoft. (Perhaps it was not the "open-source" part of Microsoft that gets open-source supporters' approval, but comparing to Apple, Microsoft is without a doubt the least hated company to side with.)

I think if Ouya is a real success, Playstation could be just as much at risk as XBox. Having said that, it seems
as though Ouya could be quite underpowered compared with both the XBox360 and PS3, since it's essentially
being built upon the same technology as most Android based tablets. Popular console games series from the
likes of Call of Duty, the more recent iteration of the Grand Theft Auto games from GTA 4 upwards, plus
the Saints Row trilogy, and the recent Max Payne 3 will never run on current tablet type technology.
The upcoming Wii U from Nintendo could potentially be a lot more powerful than Ouya.

Ouya would most be able to play the GTAIII series including Vice City and San Andreas. The only recent GTA
game Ouya could play is Chinatown Wars, which wasn't even designed for the more powerful game consoles.

Ouya is little more than an Android tablet in a box, most likely using a custom front end designed for gaming.
Neither the XBox360 or the Playstation 3 have anything to worry about, especially since they'll both be killed
off and replaced within the next couple of years (possibly sooner) by both Microsoft and Sony respectively.

Who cares about PlayStation 3 these days? It's Microsoft's market
leading Xbox 360 that gets our Microsoft die-hard supporters worry.

In that case, XBox360 fans don't have anything to worry about. While it might be nearly seven years old now,
the XBox360 will still be a better choice for hardcore gamers, than what is simply an Android based mini PC.
Most modern games made for the 360 generation won't run on Ouya. The Ouya is something that would
enable people to play lightweight, arcade style games such as Angry Birds, on their flatscreen HDTVs,
and is aimed more towards the sort of casual gamers that bought the Nintendo Wii.

Most serious gamers will stick with XBox360, PS3, or the PC, depending on their own personal preferences,
regardless of whether Microsoft, Sony, or whoever is the current market leader in video gaming technology.
