Computer scientist Dennis Ritchie (dmr) is died at his home on 12th October, after a long battle against an unspecified illness.

He created the C programming language and, with long-time colleague, Ken Thompson, the UNIX operating system, software that powers everything from smartphones to search engines. I know it is hard to believe for certain Microsoft die-hard, but even Windows was once written in C.
