Google Chrome anyone?

Postby richard mitnick » Fri 11 Jun, 2010 5:57 am

Apparently, lots of folks. And now me.

I am thinking that we should have a topic for Chrome. We have one for Opera, which has about 2.2% of the "market", while Chrome has in the same report 14.5%.

Sorry, some posts in this thread were lost during the transition.

Here are some quotes:
DJGM wrote:Not for me thanks ... I hate Chrome. I explained the reasons why in another thread.

James wrote:I agree with you, Richard. Chrome is here to stay and it's an awesome browser and will only get better with time. How about its own folder, Antony?

Antony wrote:I think we can have a subforum for both Safari and Chrome since both of them uses WebKit.

One one of the Ubuntu-based 10.04 distros, I think it was Lubuntu (LXDE desktop), it came with Chromium and running it from the LiveCD, it ran quite fast.

Wow!! Antony-

This is my first look at the new deal. I am especially delighted to see the new image and URL utilities. We still need to use something like imageshack, if we want to load an image from our own libraries.
One forum I visit regularly, http://www.classicalmusicguide.com, has an attachment utility so we can add our own stuff. I don't know what that costs to do, and I don't know who provides for their costs. BNut I can tell you it make life much easier.

But, congratulations on this make over. It is beautiful.

Nancy-

It is important that one enjoy the use of one's browser. We often forget that the person is the single most important component of any computer or network.

It took me a couple of days to wean myself from Firefox but I'm glad I stuck it out. Now I'm totally addicted to Chrome. It's fast... lightning fast. And I love the way the tabs and the search bar/address field work. And we all know that it will only get better.

Been using Chromium (on Linux) and Google Chrome (on Windows) for a few weeks now and I like both.

Had some connectivity issues with anything Mozilla-derived (both OS' on 64-bit hardware) and still do not know why), but when I stopped using anything Mozilla-derived, the connection has been rock solid.

Not to mention after spending $100 (USD) on a new router and PCI network (NIC) card to see if it was the on-board NIC or router causing the trouble, turns out both the on-board NIC and original router (Linksys WRT54G) were working perfectly.

Although t was past the return period for the router, the store where I purchased it from accepted it so I could exchange it for something else. Turns our the router had defective firmware in it, the time zone could not be changed from Pacific.

Bought a new Cisco Linksys E2000 router. Works great, gigabit wired ports, wireless 802.11N (I use 802.11G with the laptop). I'm very happy with it.
