Windows Installer

Postby whcarousel » Sun 19 Jul, 2009 6:40 pm

I have tranferred my Windows 2003 from my old computer PC to my new one PC--XP to Vista and have imported my Windows 2003 also.

I have an icon for Word on my desk top. Each time I click on it, Windows Installer appears stating that it is "Preparing to Install." Why does this now happen and how can I eliminate it?

Thanks for your help. :)

this may or may not help:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265194

you'll see other possibilities if you google your phrase
"Windows Installer appears stating that it is "Preparing to Install.""

sometimes an incomplete install or uninstall causes the windows installer to pop up. in my case i used revo uninstaller: http://www.revouninstaller.com/ to completely uninstall office 2003 which worked for me. it took about an hour using the advanced mode and, of course, there's no guarantee that what worked for me will work for you so be certain before, or if, you do anything.
