Microsoft and Yahoo finally agreed to work together

Postby Antony » Wed 29 Jul, 2009 10:49 pm

Following years of rumours, Microsoft and Yahoo have finally struck a deal that could shake Google to its foundations.

Pending regulatory approval, the number two and three search engines will combine their forces for an alliance that will tackle Google on its home turf of web search.

...

The deal will see Microsoft technology will now power the internet searches and ads on Yahoo site, the partnership will also allow Microsoft to introduce its search engine Bing to a wider audience.

Personally, I see this is a good thing in the long term. As we all know that more competitions is a good thing for healthy market. However, an assault on many open-source extremists' beloved Google is likely to cause boycott.
