I wonder if anyone know about multiple Java versions. I went through to 1.6 bunch, and then to the 1.7. I have the latest version, i.e. 1.7. update 3. A couple of days ago, Secunia PSI informed me that had a vulnerability, which would solved by installing v.1.6. update 31.
The Java website gives confusing information, saying that multiple versions can be installed, bu, also, that the latest version will be used. Both version are the latest in the set.
Does one need both versions?

Sun Java products and versions are a confusing mess.
Oracle appears to be driving to simplification.

I don't see any 1.6 or 1.7 on the Older Java Archive page.

On the Java SE 7 Downloads page is
"WARNING: These older versions of the JRE and JDK are provided to help developers debug issues in older systems. They are not updated with the latest security patches and are not recommended for use in production."

The latest Runtime release is 6U31. Look out for any pre-checked other-product-also-download.

The description is, actually,SDK 6 and 7, or 6 or 7, Update number... I removed Java (TM)6 Update 31, which I think is for developers, only.

It's been more than a year since I've had Java on my computer and frankly, I don't miss it.
