Crashes at Mshtml.dll

Postby Fulvio » Sun 14 Jul, 2002 10:10 pm

So, I have had a recurring problem with crashes for no good reason at module mshtml.dll. No,none of these crashes occur while I am in Netscape or Opera, only in IE or other IE-related browsers, but not AOL.
So,one may ask what am I doing in IE or other IE related browser. Let's say I like to live dangerously.
All this started when I decided to "upgrade" to IE6. So, what happens? My McAfee AV is not compatible with IE6, e.g:it could not complete scans.
The really good feature was that when I went to the Windows Critical Updates, I got a blank page. I received no help from the IE forum, so I reverted to the previously well behaving(for a Microsoft product) IE5.5.
Now, I either have still some remnants of IE6, like the mshtml.dll viewer file or something else, but I crash repeatedly. McAfee behaves well, but I have it disabled, so it cannot be it. Critical Updates comes up as it used to .I tried to "repair" to no avail. No what ? Go back to IE6, but it may not be it. I could remove IE, but until AOL goes Gecko, it is not an option. Jump out of the "Window"? it sounds attractive. If anyone has had such encounter, please let me know.

Crashes at Mshtml.dll

I broke down, and did a minimal update, plus the latest critical updates.
So far so good. Noconflicts with McAfee AV, and I see the Windows Updates page, plus no Mshtml.dll crash during an extensive visit to IE6 and OE.
I am a nervous wreck, but I may have fixed the problem. :x :?: :!: [/quote]
