I carry a bottle of water to work each day as well. I'm not home right now but I think it's between 3-4 liters. Yeah ... it's a huge bottle that I use to refill a smaller water bottle from throughout the day. I don't want to drink the water from the tap so I bring my own filtered water from home.

While I'm at work, I carry around a 590mL/20oz water bottle which I fill up about three or four times a day, and while at home, I drink around four to six 355ml/12oz glasses of water. The only time that I ever drink soda anymore is when I'm out eating in a restaurant. That comes out to ~4.5L/~150oz water a day.

Wow. You surpass my daily water intake which is about 3 L. It's vitally important to drink enough water every day to flush out the system (in more ways than one). It was my wife who started me on the water drinking a few years back. Prior to that, I seldom drank water and as a result, I had several physical issues which have since vanished. As for soda... I just don't drink it anymore. A couple of cups of coffee in the morning and some tea at dinner and that's about the extent of my drinking (other than a cold beer on weekends and wine three times a week at dinner).

Unlike Don who drinks Mountain Dew as daily water intake, I buy Coke in cans for a good reason. (Antony is poor.)

Apart from Nespresso coffee and tea (Lipton), the other drink I drink is orange juice. When oranges are cheap in green grocer, Laurent bought them in boxes, and I juice them myself. Here's a photo to prove:

Oh, the home made orange juice are generally not as sweet as commercial bottle, and each glass tastes a bit different to the other one.

Fresh orange juice is delicious. :) I'm too lazy to squeeze my own like that though, so I just buy the premium 100% stuff at the store. Nudie makes some pretty awesome juice, but it is expensive - $6 for 2L is the price I generally pay. Well worth it though, no concentrate or added sugar, certainly no additives. :)

As i recall the media discussions following the incident referred to above (21, 22 Apr), too much water too fast causes the body to lose potassium. This is a known danger in the medical community, but not so obvious to the public. Hospital IV drips may contain potassium as well as sodium, to maintain the blood's electrolyte balance. Potassium is required for muscles - think heart attack.

The Gatorade sports drink (currently a Pepsi product) has these minerals.

thank you Paul for the information.

I do buy sports drinks usually during travelling. Somehow I don't drink sports drinks that often.

The key in what Paul posted is the time frame. If you consume a great amount of water in a very short time period, then yes... that can be dangerous. However, consuming 3 L of water over the entire day is hardly a short period of time. Besides, I've been doing this for years and I'm perfectly healthy. :)

It has been two months since I had a sip of Coke (or any brand/flavour of soft drink).

It started before Easter break when I had a flu. I obeyed doctor's instruction... not to drink cold drinks. (Oh, unlike Don's American doctor, my doctor did not give me any prescriptions. Told me to get some victims instead.)

Since then, the consumption of green tea has increased. I've gone through a few packs (of 50 tea bags) of Lipton Green Tea.
Two weeks ago, I was told (by an elder person) that I should reuse the tea bag. What!? Although Antony is poor, he is not that cheap. Sorry, reusing the tea bag is just not my thing.

Good, generally, green tea itself does not give strong flavour, unless you go for Japanese green tea powder (matcha) Which will give you a very strong flovour but expensive here.

Another good thing about green tea is it does not stain the cups that much (like black tea). However I was told that tea stains on cups/mugs were mostly due to not using the good quality cups/mugs.

Unlike Don, I don't own many fine bone china cups or crystal glasses (for his Mountain Dew).
P.S. green tea powder is good for making green tea ice cream.

Speaking about green tea, one of the Japanese restaurant I frequent visit makes delicious Green Tea Cappuccino:

Somehow, I haven't managed to make a good green tea cappuccino like they do.

Some people can't drink green tea for one reason or another. My experience with stained cups after drinking black tea, has to do with the water itself.

I have found decaffeinated teas and coffees to be more mild than "full-strength". :)
