Opera 11.50 released

Opera Software has released the shipping version of the web browser software, Opera 11.50.

Opera 11.50 introduces a new type of browser extension: Speed Dial extensions. Instead of handy thumbnails and links to your top sites, users can embed their Speed Dial with extensions that keep them updated instantly.

Other new features include:

• Read It Later
• Webdoc
• The Hype Machine
• StockTwits
• Password synchronization
• new sleek streamlined and lightweight interface

Opera 11.50 is available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and it is available free of charge. Opera 11.50 browser can be downloaded from Opera website.

Trying out 11.52 on Linux and was surprised to see that they abandoned QT for printing and now uses native Linux (CUPS), at least on Debian.

In a way, yes. Printing now works.

I had to uninstall the package, because of multimedia issues. I couldn't listen to internet radio stations without JavaScript hiccuping.

Although the multimedia issue isn't a problem with Firefox or SeaMonkey.

They are up to 11.52 now, and it will not run Java on a Mac! This is after the latest Mac Java update.

I started to like Opera Mini for iPhone and iPad now. Although I still don't like the way they remove most of the formats, but it is interesting.

I removed Opera because of other issues, notably JavaScript and internet radio.

Linux: I otherwise have Firefox, SeaMonkey, Chromium and Iceape (Debian-branded SeaMonkey). On the other computers (both of which have the GNOME desktop included), those also have Epiphany.

Windows Vista: SeaMonkey, Firefox, IE and Chrome.

I've tried Opera Mini on my Android to see how it runs. The fonts were rather fuzzy, so I uninstalled it,

Thanks, Edward. So... on your Vista setup, are the four browsers set up more or less the same (same bookmarks, same homepage) or completely different?

I imported the SeaMonkey bookmarks into Firefox, so they (more or less) have the same bookmarks now. Then I imported the Firefox bookmarks into Chrome once I installed that. I did the same on the Linux side.

I left the IE bookmarks as they were, as I rarely use IE (which was eventually upgraded from 8 to 9).
