My story of Opera

Postby Lorraine » Mon 02 Jun, 2003 10:48 pm

Hi:
I installed Opera in 1997 I believe it was, one of the first versions.
It was free and was being promoted on some newsletter I was receiving then.
I didn't know very much about computers, o.k. I know, I still don't *S*

I was using Netscape also. I had Windows 95, 120 MHZ Pentium PC.
O.K. stop laughing, it was top of the line when I bought it.

Operat went fine for a couple of days and then I had nothing. I crashed.

Opera was in it's first stages I believe, but perhaps not.

I was in the store of computers and the owner told me that I should never download new programmes that haven't really been tested. He had never heard of Opera at that time.

My son fixed my computer for me.

Anyway, I have been afraid to download Opera since.

Perhaps it is incompatible with Windows 95. I know it was in it's early stages when I downloaded it, and not too be compared with Opera of today, but it seems people are still having problems.

My two cents worth. I'll stick with Netscape, I started NS with version 2.0 <grin>

Opera is a poor excuse of a web browser

Not sure what the problem was with Opera... but then it was the early days. Still a lot of bugs to work out. :)

I don't think it would have messed up your 95 installation. I run beta and even alpha software here on a regular basis, and never ran into a program that killed the OS.

Opera is very stable these days. So no reasons to worry. :)

And I think Opera is a wonderful web browser. I switched to Opera when version 5 came out, running 7.11 right now. Always have been happy with it...

Although lately I have been using Mozilla more. :)

Why do you say that?

It's faster than IE, and more secure as well.

Did you have an issue or problem using Opera?
