Import mail problem

Postby Gregor » Tue 24 Jun, 2003 5:02 am

I downloaded the latest Opera and try to import mail. I was not able to do that, because after putting the location of files, that Import button was grey-ed out /inactive. Any suggestions ?

Gregor,

If you're using Opera 7.x, were you possibly importing mail from an application that Opera might not have recognized?

You can import mail into Opera's M2 from Opera (versions 6 and 5), Netscape (versions 7 and 6), Eudora, OE, or from an mbox formatted mailbox.

It cam also import contacts from Netscape 6 and 7, Eudora, and OE.

I found a second way to import mail into Opera.

Aside from
    File
    Import
    Mail

If you go to the Mail menu, select New Account, then in the window that appears, select "Import e-mail".

Did you try it that way?

Hello Ed!

I just finished my this year summer holiday. I managed to import all mail from Netscape 7.1 by the second way as you describe it. Thank You :!: I will try Ramonas hints for Opera users and see how it goes.

BTW how many security holes does Opera 7.11 have, and which Java uses?

Regards,

Gregor

At this time, I am not aware of any security issues with Opera 7.11.

In the past, when a security issue was brought to Opera's attention, they had been very responsive and fast when issuing a new release fixing whatever the issue addressed. In the more than 2 1/2 years I've been using Opera, that one time was the only time I had been aware of a security issue requiring a new version of Opera to correct the problem.

Under Windows, I am using Sun's Java 2 Runtime Envorinment (JRE) version 1.4.2, and have not had trouble with it. Under Linux, I am not using Java. Opera for Linux requires an older version of a library than the one which came with the SuSE Linux distribution, in order to use plugins, therefore I cannot use plugins including Java. I don't believe I'm missing anything by not viewing Java applets under Linux.
