I keep the curtains closed, save for the gap where the window fan is.

Then you. ight consider getting curtains that blocks light and heat better.
Don't tell me that you are sucking the heat from outside into your room with your window fan.

There's a switch on top that controls what direction the fan is blowing in, which I set depending on whether I feel hot or cool air coming out in intake mode. It's easier than the old fan which I would've needed to physically reverse in the window.

I don't have Arthritis, but there are signs to tell the change of weather still. Cockroaches(*) were pretty active today, and I have a feeling the change of weather is coming.

(*) I killed them. I have warned them not to show up in my sight, or I would kill them one way or the other.

Just what sort of winter weather do you receive in Sydney, Antony?

Cold, but no beautiful snow as rewards.

Usually dry, but this winter has been pretty wet so far.

When you say "cold"... just how cold (on average) does it get? Our winters here on the Pacific coast are relatively moderate. We seldom receive snow (it snowed twice this past year and even then the snow did not last more than a few hours) but rain... OMG... it rains almost non-stop for many of our winter months. Temps would be around the mid-40's to mid-50's, occasionally dipping to the 30's at night.

The temperature is usually below 20°C (the high temperature), and hardly goes down to single digit in Sydney. The low temperature of the day is usually single digit during the early morning hours or late night.

Weather up in Central New York (Pulaski, NY to be exact; as I'm home for the summer) has been very, very hot averaging from between 89-95. And on top of just being hot it has been ridiculously muggy. Add on the fact that I don't have and air conditioner, and you make for a rather uncomfortable day.

Although, things do seem to be looking up:

Hey John-

Bottle some of that heat, you will need it soon enough.

Hey Richard-

I, being weird as I am, actually like the cold. I would much rather that it be in the 10-20 range. Because then I can stay inside under a pile of blankets. However, when I'm hot there are only so many layers off.

It was good to have some sun during the weekend during this cold winter.

Antony-

After what we have had this Summer, I cannot wait.

I discovered one more thing that separates the haves from the have-nots: the electric bill.

Annoying insects are pretty active today, it must be a sign of changing of weather, or would be a sign of nature disaster coming.

Well, Sydney is not beautiful Boston, we have a lot of annoy insects.
