Removing Netscape 6 section from the main page

Postby Antony » Tue 27 Aug, 2002 9:05 pm

Hello guys

In http://sillydog.org/narchive/

How do you think if I remove the Netscape 6 section from the main page?

OR I shall combine Netscape 6 and Netscape 7 into one section.

(Note: there will still have separate sections in Full List page, which I am still working on it)

This is a conspiracy, yes a conspiracy I say! You finalized it while I was away and couldn't offer good input! You...you....anti-feline!

Oh well, I'm off. I have a lunch date with Elvis, Bigfoot, and the Loch Ness monster in a spaceship hovering over the Bermuda triangle trying to make crop circles in water while being escorted by black UN helicopters...

Oh hey, btw, I almost forgot to say the new layout looks fabulous :D

Er, why would you remove the Netscape 6 section? While it may be true that they have all been beta (or in 6.0s case alpha imho) releases, they were still pushed by Netscape from their main browser page. Personally I think you should keep them seperate and note that these were all based on pre-1.0 versions of mozilla code.

Thanks Tinkles,
We've had enough problem with those early Netscape 6.0x, a premature product. And the *main* Netscape Browser Archive would like to give all visitors the quickly way to download good browsers, good and trouble free Netscapes. Of course, all Netscapes (including NS6.xx) will be available in the full list page. Please note, the full list page is designed for people who are looking for particuarl version OR really knows what they want.

DOCTYPE issue

Postby Antony » Sat 31 Aug, 2002 8:34 am

DJGM wrote:The new NSBA looks good, but I notice there's no DOCTYPE declaration.

e.g. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

The guideline for using doctype declaration...
For legacy HTML documents that have not been checked for HTML 4.0 compliance and which may rely on the behaviour of old browsers (i.e. most documents on the web today): no doctype declaration.
