AOL'S 9.0

Postby Peerinto » Mon 01 Sep, 2003 4:53 pm

Hi People, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. About nine months ago I got a new PC. I installed a new hard drive and up graded my ram My O. S is XP Home. All along I have been installing programs with no problems. When I first fired up this PC, I had to create an Administrator account and a user account for my wife. Now about three days ago I tried to download and install AOL's new 9.0 and each time the download begins the process stops and a message appears saying (We are unable to download the AOL files to your computer, in order to download the AOL files, please check to see if your logged in with the same privileges as administrator on your PC and start the download again. Error:806 I guess what I am asking is can anyone instruct me on how to set administrator privileges so I can complete this process, or take another route to finish what I am trying to do. Thanks!

AOL9.0 has recently turned GM. As far as many are concerned it is still beta.
I have been in the beta development of the critter, and I am 50:50 about it.
Unfortunately, I do not have XP, but you have an Administrator account, and so you have privileges. The only other route is to wait for the inevitable CD.
You can also go to Keyword:beta and you will be given the opportunity to access the beta boards. The AOL9.0 Optimized is on top of the list, and you can try to post.
In the meantime, I can check the boards, and see if there is any problem with WinXP download.

AOL 9.0 error 806 & Windows XPHome

I am also new to this forum and am having the identical problem that Peerinto is having. I am the administrator and have successfully downloaded and installed other software, but I can not download AOL 9 because I am not recognized as the administrator with those priviledges.

Is this a bug in AOL 9.0?
