Did I miss something?

Postby JPhoenixDK » Sat 01 Nov, 2003 4:12 pm

Hi all,

I have been a steady lurker on this excellent site since I rediscovered Netscape a month ago. Anyway, I have been using Netscape 7.1 without any problems except two: the webmail didn't work and the mail notification pop-up didn't work. However, a week ago both of these functions started to work, not every time, but EVERY time I use Netscape. It is definitely a pleasant surprise but now I am kind of curious. Why do these functions all of a sudden work? Have you guys experienced the same or am I in an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Thanks for a great forum

Sincerely,
J_Phoenix

I have noticed that Netscape Webmail has started to work pretty well. I had just about given up on it. I don't know if you got an e-mail from Netscape about my rules and regulations. Among them, you don't use your account for 30 days, and you are out. Any way things got better after that e-mail.
As for the mail notification, I never paid much attention to it. I know that the sound does not do what you want, but I rarely noticed the flag. I has several accounts set up, and, I probably do not get much mail in any of them. I used to see that flag a lot, until I gave up on the what I call my Spam account. Would I really care to know that I got more Spam?

Why do you ask this question? I agree with JPDK. Webmail, in general, and when set up in Netscape7.1 mail was hopeless till a couple of weeks ago. But, it seems to work fine now.

No, I did not change my internet connection. As a matter of fact I haven't done anything to my settings. I kind of gave up on the webmail after having read Fulvio's posts concerning the topic. Could it somehow be connected to the new Netscape internet service?

It may in Europe. There is nothing particularly new in the USA.

Added later: I know that there is talk of a new Netscape ISP which would offer one username, and be competitive with Juno, Earthlink, and other more stripped down e-mail service. There are people who are talking about this as a "fait accompli" , but no one at AOL knows any more than the news reports.
This was when the news first broke, about a couple of weeks ago.
