Windows does it again! time to update again.

To Microsoft Windows Fans and Users:

Please take note of the vilnerabilities on MS Windows reported on Microsoft Windows Security Bulletin Summary for February 2004 (see summary below:)

Another patch this, update that time.

Microsoft Windows Security Bulletin Summary for February, 2004
Affected softwares: a number of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT 4 Workstation and Server.
Vulnerability Could Allow Code Execution
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer
Vulnerability in the Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) Could Allow Code Execution

Besides updating your Windows OS, I'd like to remind you that Microsoft only admits there were security flows and vulnerability in their software once they have a fix (patch) available. Also, from this update list, it seems like Microsoft has dropped earlier versions of Windows from this security support list.

Hi,
I never update my systems.
Except at work I will do that at work as I am working more days this week.
I refuse to do it at home.
The 0010-0002-2004 one for servers only.
As I have servers as home and work I will do the update at work only not at home as I do not beleive in patches.

There is really no excuse. If you have a PC running Microsoft Windows, and you use that PC to
access the internet on a regular basis, you should always apply all available official Windows
security patches and updates, whether you believe in applying such patches or not.

This latest batch of security updates released by Microsoft is absolutely no exception to this.

If you knowingly put your Windows based PC online, without the latest patches, and also
without the necessary security software installed (anti-virus, anti-spyware firewall) then
you basically deserve all the unauthorised hacks, cracks, and online intrusions you get.

You are welcome to express your disagreement regarding patches from Microsoft. However, you may not suggest/recommend directly or indirectly other users not to apply patches via SillyDog701 resources.

Let me tell you, if you refuse to have adequate security system in your house, your house and contents insurance can simply refuse to cover your loss.

BTW,
SillyDog701 encourages all affected users to get updates from Microsoft.

I use Norton Anti virus and if that doesn't protect it nothing will.

More on this...
One of the very serious issue "ASN.1 Vulnerability Could Allow Code Execution" was reported by eEye Digital Security half a year ago, it was until yesterday, Microsoft finally acknowledged it.

Detail about eEye's report.

The way I think of Internet security is very simple, I like to compare it to a car. If you have a router, your car is safe inside your garage, with a software firewall the doors are locked, so clearly having both makes sense. Then if someone has neither a firewall or router, the car is parked on the front lawn with the doors open, and the key is in the ignition!

Hi,
I am NOT telling users not to get the patches.
I am just telling what I do and do not do.

 As a newbie to this forum I am getting the impression that wellander is not well liked by the higher ups...
I dont agree with what he is saying as far as protection of ones pc but I do agree with his right to say it. One would imagine he would not expound on such a topic as it surely makes him look alittle backward to go out there in cyberland unprotected....gl to him
