Postby Antony » Tue 13 Apr, 2004 7:54 am

We will have an online chat this Saturday, 17th April. The time is different to usual time.

The online chat time will start at 15:01 Saturday (GMT 0) time.
OR
23:01 (AWST, GMT+8),
16:01 (BST, GMT+1)
11:01am (EDST, GMT-4)
8:01am (PDST, GMT-7)

Venue:
irc: irc.dixiesys.net
port: 6667
channel: #sillydog701

You will need an IRC client to access to the chat room. ChatZilla, XChat, mIRC ... are all good IRC clients.

If the IRC server dies for any reason at that time, please check this thread for further information.

Hope to see you there.

It's no wonder we get all confused.
I am in the EDST that's Eastern Daylight Savings Time, which I assume you are referring to. But than again, I don't know.
My time zone is (GMT-05:00 )Eastern Time (Canada and U.S.)
My clock is adjusted automatically for Daylight saving time, so the time is correct.
It is now 9:09 PM Tuesday.

Lorraine,
According to my reference material,
Eastern Standard Time (in US, and probably also in Canada) is "GMT -5".
During daylight saving, the porper notation should be "EDST" aka "GMT-4", however most 'Mericans don't use that notation.
And GMT does not get changed, it's a reference. GMT is just like UTC, although a very high percentage of people living in North America don't know what UTC is.

It's as long as people want it to be, there is no fixed time limit.

You'll have to go into your Profile and change the timezone to GMT-4 for it to show the correct local time, assuming you also switched to summer/daylight savings time a couple of weeks ago.
