The Linux version of Netscape 7.2, doesn't have

Is it worth installing then??

To be honest . . . nah! . . . Especially if you already Mozilla installed on your Linux distro!

If you're running Windows however, then the more Mozilla based browsers, the better!

Meanwhile . . . take a look at this . . . AOL are giving Netscape 7.2 the level of
promotion they ought to have given last year's release of Netscape 7.1 . . . !

My quick report of Netscape 7.2 on Mac OS X .
It's a good browser in general. It is a lot faster than Netscape 7.1 on OS X.
Netscape 7.2 responded smoothly in my opinion, but still can feel "ported" application to me. the menu, toolbar icons to me still feel a bit of Unix box draw. In other words, not native application.
However, I know it is not fair to comment like that. Or perhaps I just like the native application feeling of the operating system itself.

I haven't had time to test the rendering speeds etc, I will do that later.

What is the point of having a Pop-Up Blocker in the new Netscape toolbar when the Pop-Up Blocker is already contained within the Preferences?

So it can block the pop-up blocker!

it actually act like a white-list editor, goto a website, turn that button off, this site will be added into the pop-up blocker's white-list.

Some of the things I noticed about Netscape 7.2 is the Netscape toolbar. I think it is a nice feature, but there is no way to hide it other than "rolling up" that toolbar, or uninstalling it. The toolbar also takes up alot of space when the tab bar is open, espically when using 800x600 resolution. The tab bar also has "New Tab" text becide the "New Tab" button, also using alot space. Other than those new features, it is exactly how I would expect a Netscape release. I am overall pleased.

I have installed it on Windows and I really like it so far, I personally don't see no advandtage of having it over Mozilla, but I just prefer to use Netscape(as long as it is up to date)over Mozilla.

I would like to install it on Linux but if the fonts are not smooth it is just to ugly for me.

I dissected the toolbar, i.e. I took into consideration each item, and it has no reason to exist in NS7.2. It was made for Internet Explorer, where it served a purpose, but not here. Other than that NS7.2 is excellent, at par with Moz1.7.2. Surprise?

You can no longer do a Google search from the Toolbar. The only Search engine search from the toolbar is "Netscape". In 7.1 you could use various search engines from the toolbar. I'm sure The google search works for Fulvio.

I just add a shortcut to the personal toolbar to whatever search engine I need. Works well in the "other" browser, too. It also works well for The Weather Channel, which links right to my local page. Eliminates the need for Desktop Weather on my 450 Mhz antique. The Desktop Navigator actually performs pretty much the same function, and uses far fewer resources than DW.

I have played with on 10.2.8. I find it to be pretty good and fast! I haven't tried mail/news or composer, but I am thinking they will be good.

I see the Windows version has a toolbar that has pop-up blocking, web search, and form filling. With this installed, does this override the "native" settings (i.e. as present in Moz 1.7.x) or not?

My impressions of Netscape 7.2:
The Netscape Toolbar is the most obvious new feature at first glance. I personally find it to be of marginal use, although I think it's an interesting feature and I am extremely glad that this Netscape accessory is finally available for the browser of the same name!

My Netscape 7.2 Toolbar didn’t work right (missing options and selected options disappearing from toolbar) so I uninstalled it from the Netscape toolbar's drop-down list, then reinstalled it by opening the "Netscape Setup" file netscapetoolbar_distro.XPI in the browser, which fixed the problem. I had to do the same thing in my other Netscape 7.2 profile . An uninstall/reinstall of the netscapetoolbar_distro.XPI fixed it there, too.

Might just be a coincidence but the "Subject or Sender contains..." search function in Mail/Newsgroups wasn't working either. After I uninstalled and reinstalled the Netscape toolbar, and closed/reopened Netscape, the "Subject or Sender contains..." message search feature also was fixed.

I was disappointed that Netscape was the only search engine provided in the integrated Search facility by default; a quick visit to Mycroft at mozdev.org allowed me to restore Google and other engines to the list.

All I had to do was copy the searchplugins (src and gif files for Jeeves, google and dmoz) from my Mozilla 1.7.2 C:\Program Files\Mozilla1.72\mozilla\searchplugins folder to my Netscape 7.2 C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape7.2\searchplugins folder. Now I have those additional search engines to choose from in my Navigator | Internet Search preferences, in addition to Netscape search
