Postby Anand » Thu 01 Aug, 2002 5:53 am

Hi,
Ihave been facing date setting problem suddenly in netscape4.7 and the newer version 6.2.
When a newmail arrives in inbox it shows only the subject and the timebut not the date. But when i open the message, it gives the proper date/time of the message.I have 3 machines having netscape 4.7 having the same problem suddenly. This problem arised for the past 15 days and before that it was working perfectly.

I installed latest version 6.2 and in that also it gives the same problem,

Can you pls diagnose and giveus a fix for this problem

Thanks & Regards

I'm a bit confused here. Are you talking about messages you have just received or ones you have had for awhile?

Netscape's default behavior is to show only the time if the date of the message matches the date of your system. Once your system rolls over to a new date, Netscape should start showing both date and time for the message since it is no longer the same date. At least that is how Netscape has behaved for me since I can remember.

It,definitely would be good to clarify were you see this. Is it where all the headers are located? As far as I know today's mail has always shown only subject and time. And,the messager has both. I am using Mozilla, and it shows subject and time for todays messages, and subject and day yesterday and earlier. I did not notice till now that the date as well as time appear in the header after the message has been closed.
Now, if never see a date for any past days,it is a problem. But yesterday you should have seen the time only, for new message, but , today you should see time and date.
If you see only time for the entire fifteen days, there is a possibility, very remote, that you may have corrupted summary files. You will find then in your mail folder of the profile folder for 4.79, and, you can delete from Windows Explorer the Inbox.snm file. Do this with Netscape closed.
For 6.2 it is a Inbox.msf file. But, I have never seen tow different programs acting up at the same time.
