I doubt that NB is / will be developed in "cross platform" basis.

One of the main feautes of this NS version is the dual engine support. Since IE doesn't work in GNU/Linux, the only way to make an equivalent version is translating IE engine to linux kernel, and I think this is too much work without making money for AOL.
So long, without this feature, the prototype is just a bad skinned version of firefox.

Let's hope Apple's new [sdt=8030]Mac mini[/sdt] will boost up the Mac users, and Netscape will then need to consider the Mac platform with higher priority.

Signing in for feedback

Postby Fulvio » Fri 28 Jan, 2005 12:50 pm

I have been unable to sign in the newsgroups for the Prototype.
I, probably, made a mistake by, originally, using the same username and password as my AOL username/password. That gave me a new @netscape.net address. I have a sneaky suspicion that I lost my signon capabilities because of this. It is, actually, more than a sneaky suspicion, because I get an invalid something or other when I try to signon at the website, but not in NS7.2. I must be the only one who can sign on Netscape mail client, but not at the website.
Anyone knows how to get out of this mess?
If there is no way that I can continue, c'est la vie.
Now, to iTunes, where I can't seem to get any kind of support. Yes, I was using an AOL sign on, and I have an Apple sign on, but all my money is in the AOL sign on.

Try one of the following:

-If you were setup to receive e-mail notifications of topics, install a new web browser with a new profile. Then follow one of the links in the topic notification e-mails to get back into the site.

-If you haven't logged into your netscape.net e-mail for 30 days, then your account will be de-activated. To re-activate your account, log-in to Netscape.com's Mail and then try again.

-If none of this works and you still can't get in, clear ALL cookies and then go to:
http://community.netscape.com/nscpbrowser
Write a short message in the message sending area listing your screename and that you can't connect. Ask them for assistance and they might help.

Personal Bar? Tabbed browsing?

Postby James » Tue 01 Feb, 2005 11:11 am

For those of you with the Prototype, where exactly is the Personal Bar? From the screen shots I can see a tab bar and just above it a bar with news and weather... but where is the Personal Bar? Can you move this bar around as you can in FF?

When you navigate from site to site... do you find your tabs multiplying rather than windows? How do you set it so the windows multiply AND you have tabs within the windows?

I have done all that except for trying to reinstall the browser. I asked for assistance twice twice, and still no response.
But, not as bad as iTunes where I had $35 allowance with my AOL signon, and they can't figure out how to transfer it to my Apple account.
I never expected to have these problems by drop[ping AOL, but my webmail account is gone along with my AOL account. I just learned that that's the way it is.

Fulvio,

Have you tried setting up a new Webmail Account, and using that Login to get to the Forums?

Ramona

P.S. Just remembered that you don't like AIM/NIM, but if you really want to get on the Forums, it might be worth it to add the nim.xpi file for Netscape 7, whichever version you use...
