America Online (AOL) is delaying the release of the first public test version of a new Netscape Web browser until the end of the month to fix some last-minute bugs, the company said Wednesday.

Downloading and Installing
System Requirements
Before installing, make sure your computer meets these system requirements:
Operating System:
Windows XP
Windows 2000
Windows 98 SE, ME (Critical bugs are known, see below for details)
Hardware Requirements:
233 MHz processor
64 MB RAM
35 MB hard drive space
Other:
Internet Explorer 6.0 (If using the Trident rendering engine)
Recommended Configuration:
1 GHz processor
256 MB RAM
Downloading Netscape Browser
This pre-release of The Netscape Browser, 8.0 Beta is only available through the Netscape.com prototype community. A full public release of the Beta will be available in late February/early March, 2005.
Installing Netscape Browser
Once you have downloaded the Netscape Browser installer, follow these instructions to install:
Windows
Double click NSbrowserSetup-Full-Feb17-0200-0.9.4.exe to start the install.
Uninstalling Netscape Browser
To uninstall Netscape Browser, follow these instructions:
Windows
Use the uninstaller provided by going to Start->Programs->Netscape Browser.
Profile Folder
Netscape Browser stores your user data in one of the following locations:
Windows 2000, XP
Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Netscape\NSAE
Windows 98, ME
Windows\Application Data\Netscape\NSAE
Known Bugs and Issues
- Windows 98 functionality is limited due to frequent crashes when using the Trident rendering engine
- Formfill isn’t yet working as designed
- The Trust List (black lists, white lists, anti-phishing lists, etc) won’t be updating with live information just yet
