If you use
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger:

+ shift + 3 for picture of the whole screen

+ shift + 4 for the selection the care you want to take

+ shift + 4, then
space bar to take a picture of an element.
In some versions of Mac OS X Panther, the screenshot will saved in PNG format, you might need to convert to graphic files,
JPEG is recommend, as
PNG is usually too big.
To copy screenshots to Clipboard, please hold down
Ctrl key when you press the other keys.
